1. The honey bee is the only insect that produces food eaten by man.
2. Out of 20,000 species of bee, only four make honey.
3. The bees’ stomach is the size of the head of a pin, to fill this once the bee may need to visit 1,000 flowers.
4. Honey bees visit about 2 million flowers to make one pound of honey.
5. Workers fly within a 3 to 4 mile radius of their hive.
6. Bees fly at an average of 13-15 mph.
7. Honey bees never sleep.
8. Honey bees are the only type of bee which doesn’t hibernate in the winter.

11. Honey bees communicate through movements called a waggle dance to tell each other where to find good sources of food.
